This gentle yoga class methodically moves your body through full range of motion of all of your joints while lengthening muscles that are tight and stabilizing structures are weak and loose. The slow and gentle movement flows through seated, positioned on all 4s (no downdog or chattarunga), standing and supine postures and includes typical breath work and meditation to calm the nervous system and reduce stress. Light weights are incorporated into some of the yoga postures to strengthen and tone muscles.  Requires 1-3 lb weights. Weights provided for those taking class in-studio.

Amy Martin

Amy Martin, E-RYT200, RYT500, AYS, YACEP began her journey with yoga as another modality of fitness, not really understanding at the time all of the many benefits that yoga provides.  It didn’t take long for her to realize that yoga provided her more than just “stretches and a workout”.  Yoga left her feeling peaceful, calm, and nourished in the body, mind, and spirit while being energized at the same time.  Amy completed her RYT200 training in November 2016 at the Yoga Center of Columbia under Kathy Donnelly and Lucy Lomax.  In December 2017, Amy received her certification in yoga’s sister science, ayurveda, as an Ayurvedic Yoga Specialist through the Himalayan Institute.  In December 2019, Amy completed her RYT300 training at the Yoga Center of Columbia under Bita Jenkins.  She also is certified in yin yoga and restorative yoga, and is certified to help treat lower back pain through the use of yoga postures.  A forever student herself, Amy joyfully teaches from her heart leading students through fun, light-hearted practices with a strong emphasis on proper alignment within the body, mind, and spirit.
