Dr. Loren Fishman is coming back!

Learn to teach the yoga poses demonstrated to raise bone mineral density as you gain a deeper understanding of bone health and how yoga works to counteract osteoporosis. This weekend workshop is geared toward yoga teachers and therapists, but anyone may attend. However, if you are seeking certification, please note that the workshop will conclude with a written exam and a practicum involving teaching yoga poses to the group.

This is our classic course which authorizes one to teach the "Yoga vs. Osteoporosis" protocol demonstrated to raise bone mineral density. Major advances in the field in the past ten years have informed and somewhat changed our practice; these will be incorporated into this course and include:

1. Muscle-bone crosstalk: a critical interaction
2. The brain and bone health
3. New Medications: Promise and Menace

Participants will learn the background and epidemiology of bone loss. They will learn to do, teach, and trouble-shoot the 12 yoga poses in Series 1, the poses that have been demonstrated to raise bone mineral density. Participants will learn beginner, intermediate, and classical versions of these 12 poses. Course includes lectures, demonstrations, yoga practice, and teaching. At the end of the course, there will be a practicum and a written exam. Course is eligible for CEUs from the International Association of Yoga Therapists (IAYT).

Meeting times:

Friday, Aug 2: 10:30 AM - 5:30 PM (ET) with 1 hour for lunch

Saturday, Aug 3: 10:30 AM - 5:30 PM (ET) with 1 hour for lunch

Sunday, Aug 4: 10:30 AM - 5:30 PM (ET) with 1 hour for lunch

The practicum involves teaching yoga poses. Can't do an advanced pose? No problem! Evaluation is based on teaching ability. Anyone may attend; you do not have to be a yoga teacher.

If you are seeking Teacher Certification, you must meet the following requirements. You must be: a yoga teacher with at least a 200-hr certification who has been teaching for at least 5 years OR, a medical professional (MD, RN, BSN, PT, LMT, etc) practicing for at least two years. You must also pass the written exam and live practicum.

This workshop will be recorded and the recordings will be available to all participants for six weeks after the close of the program.
