Patty Iammatteo

As a registered occupational therapist, Patty Iammatteo (RYT 200, MS/OTR) has more than 35 years of experience helping others with their body alignment and movement. This includes several years of work as a Hippotherapist, Centered Riding Instructor and PATH Certified Riding Instructor, partnering with horses to provide therapy and riding lessons for her clients.  She began practicing yoga regularly about 10 years ago after a back injury and found the practice of mindful movement in the yoga community to be transformative and healing. She also studied mindfulness meditation with Tara Brach at IMCW in Bethesda several years ago and has continued with mindfulness practices ever since.

Patty completed her 200 hour yoga teacher training at The Yoga Center of Columbia in 2022.  With an emphasis on alignment, her yoga classes are informed by her life-long study of movement and function to provide her students with the “just right” challenge to strengthen, stretch and balance their bodies and mindset. She includes guided meditation/visualization, breathing practices, and humor in her classes. Using a warm, embodied, playful and heart-centered approach, Patty guides her students to find a focused calm while joyfully moving in synchronization with their breathing.

Patty’s other passions include hiking, kayaking and “interbeing” with the astonishing beauty and wonder of Mother Nature. She is also an artist and Certified Color of Woman Intentional Creativity Teacher.
