Heather Thamer, M.Ed, E-RYT500, Accessible Yoga Teacher, Y4A Yoga for Amputees Master Teacher, Level 1 WAE Teacher, has been teaching yoga since 2006 and practicing yoga since 1992. Her classes are mindfully structured, blending asana, sequenced movement, breathing techniques and meditation. Prior to being a yoga teacher, Heather was actively working with and advocating for children and adults with cognitive and physical disabilities across a variety of settings including: residential, work and day programs, in the public schools and was active with Special Olympics and The Arc. During her time as a special educator, she realized the value of yoga and the positive impact yoga can have on one's life.
Since becoming a yoga teacher in 2006, Heather has taught classes for all ages, specializing in yoga for older populations, those affected by cancer, limb loss/difference, and chronic conditions. She uses a mindful, heart-centered approach to teaching yoga and is passionate about making yoga accessible and enjoyable. Heather serves as Co-Director of the Y4A Yoga for Amputees program, an international, adaptive yoga program for those with limb loss/limb difference/limb limitation.
